BANDUNG (Friday, 9 March 2018): West Java Provincial Government and PT Alita Praya Mitra have agreed to establish cooperation to study traffic management services and to weigh road transportation electronically.

The signing of a cooperation agreement between PT Alita Praya Mitra and the West Java Provincial Government is conducted today with the main points of the preparation of a feasibility study of traffic management and road transportation in West Java through the implementation of the electronic paid road system and road transport weighing.

DediTaufik, Head of West Java Provincial Transportation Office, said the provincial road is currently being used by passenger vehicles to cause congestion and road damage

“The existence of this system is expected to break down congestion and at the same time become the potential of regional income. We continue to work on improving services so that people can enjoy a smart, comfortable, and safe provincial road, “he said in Bandung today.

The use of technology in transportation arrangements should also be parallel with increased cooperation among stakeholders, not only the West Java provincial government, but also the Police and Organda.

Teguh Prasetya, Director of PT Alita Praya Mitra, said that traffic congestion and road traffic problems in West Java are caused by the unequal volume of vehicles crossing roads with road capacity, both functionally and structurally.

“More than 7 million vehicles pass by every day with roads around 2200 km spread across 27 districts of the city. We see some West Java provincial roads have been feasible applied electronic paid road and implement the weighing of electronic road transport that will detect overload automatically, “he said.

Teguh explained that the paid road has three benefits: degrading density, increasing local income, and improving the environment by reducing pollution and fuel consumption by using public facilities and infrastructure as alternative transportation.

Traffic and road transport has a strategic role in supporting national development and integration as part of efforts to promote the welfare of the people and facilitate the movement of people, goods, and services.

Traffic density and road transport occurring on arterial roads require integrated transportation management solutions to realize the smooth flow of traffic and road transport and the application of traffic management and engineering, among others through the Electronic Paid Road System and the Weighing of Dynamic Road Transport.
